I’ve long thought that one improvement for the American system would be to say that you can’t own a gun without insurance for it. So if you can’t convince an insurance company that you’re a good risk you can’t own a gun, just like a car.

So a congressman says something about insurance, and she gets death threats… Jesus. The right needs to be exposed and shamed

From the RWNJ response you might think firearms liability insurance was a new invention concocted by gun-grabbing socialists to burden and harrass gun owners. In fact, this insurance has existed for many years and none other than the the NRA itself is a major provider.
The otherwise very careless gun owner who shot me in 1982 had NRA liability insurance. It picked up the bills for my medical treatment and lost work time.

Why are those that defend the right to bear arms per constitution ignore the “well regulated” part of this right?

When did “well regulated” turn to mean ‘not regulated to any degree”?

I think fire arm ownership insurance as a prerequisite for owing a fire arm is an awesome idea.

I have a Conceal and Carry permit and at the conclusionof the course it is highly recommended to get Insurance . It is a specialized insurance product . If you shoot someone , even though you are not legally charged you may face a civil suit , OR If the legality of your action is questioned ,either way you will need a lawyer . Lawyers usually get atleast $100 k for a killing , should you have to defend yourself in court .

I just don’t get why the right wing continues to ignore the well regulated part? The right wing has argued militia means any armed citizen rather than the national guard. Fine I will buy that argument, but why do the resist the well regulated part?

Reccomended, but not mandated. Requiring the purchase of something secondary in order to exercise what the Supreme Court has decided is a Constitutional right is seriously problematic. I don’t think it would pass muster under the Heller decision.
